What is this service?

Variations — changes to the agreed scope of works — are one of the most significant sources of cost overrun and dispute on construction projects. A contractor's valuation of a variation is not necessarily the correct one. Variations must be assessed on the correct contractual basis, using the appropriate valuation methodology — which may be based on BOQ rates, reasonable cost, or a negotiated sum.

We assess variation claims in detail — checking entitlement, verifying the scope of the change, applying the correct valuation methodology, and challenging inflated labour and material rates where appropriate. We also advise on change management procedures to ensure variations are properly instructed, recorded and valued before — not after — the work is executed.
